Can Breast Implants Look Natural?

Posted on August 15, 2017 by - Breast Augmentation, Breast Implants

Every woman seeking breast augmentation in San Diego has her own unique idea of what she’d like her breasts to look like after surgery. Dr. Carlos Chacon of Divino Plastic Surgery, a plastic surgery practice in San Diego, has worked with many women that want to avoid oversized breasts and focus instead on achieving natural looking results. With the proper planning, this is certainly possible.

What Do “Natural” Breasts Look Like?

Here are some elements that suggest a woman’s breasts look natural (whether augmented or not):

Proportional to the Rest of the Woman’s Body

The augmented breasts should look balanced compared to the rest of the woman’s body, including the waist, hips and legs. She should not look “top heavy” with disproportionately large breasts. When selecting implants for a proportional result, it is important to consider her anatomy, body type and amount of native breast tissue.

Shaped Like a Teardrop

Implants that have a teardrop shape with more projection on the bottom than top tend to look more natural than round implants, which have equal projection on top and bottom. Note that teardrop implants have a textured surface to prevent them from rotating within the breast pocket and looking distorted (this is not a concern with round implants).

Subtle Cleavage

Cleavage refers to the space between the breasts lying over the sternum. Bigger breasts are easier to push together to create dramatic looking cleavage, whereas smaller breasts (and smaller implants) usually have more space in between them to produce subtle cleavage.

Low to Moderate Projection

Natural looking breasts tend not to project, or stick out very far from the chest wall. Low profile or moderate profile implants provide the most natural looking results. Generally, the lower the projection of the implant, the wider the base.

The Right Plastic Surgeon Can Help You Achieve Your Breast Augmentation Goals

Qualified plastic surgeons will tailor breast augmentation surgery to your individual needs. Expect them to ask you detailed questions to understand your goals of surgery — such as whether you want a modest increase in breast size or voluptuous breasts.

The surgeon can then recommend the implant type, shape and size most likely to give you the results you desire.

Dr. Carlos Chacon has helped thousands of women achieve their cosmetic objectives with breast augmentation. To discuss your particular goals with him, please contact Divino Plastic Surgery today and request a consultation.
