3 Reasons Why You’re Still Not Losing the Extra Weight

1. You often misjudge portion sizes.

A study reveals that most of us often underestimate (and overestimate!) portion sizes, including the caloric content of meals. The researchers of the study further pointed out that “calorie underestimation is especially extreme among overweight persons”. As a result of misjudging the portion sizes and caloric content, you end up eating too much.

What to do? Try keeping a food journal to figure out your food eating patterns. You do not have to do such journal keeping for a long time, a week or two to figure everything out will help revamp your eating habits.

2. You over-exercise.

Yes, you heard it right. While exercise could help you shed the extra pounds, too much time at the gym could actually prompt you to eat more. Not convinced? The researchers have found that exercise does promote hunger.

What to do? Take the time to chill out. If you’ve been hitting the gym 2 hours a day for 4 times a week and you’re still not seeing results, take a chill pill and try concentrating on light exercises instead such as walking with 10K steps per day.

3. You are not getting enough snooze.

So what does sleep have to do with your weight? It turns out that getting fewer hours of sleep may predispose you to weight gain. This study in children and a scientific review of studies on sleep and weight gain reveal that the extra pounds may be caused by lack of sleep.

What’s the action plan? Make sleep a priority! Over the years, most of us have probably put sleep on the back seat! It’s about time that you regain your bedtime rights!
