What is a Liposuction Procedure?
If you regularly exercise and diet, but cannot attain your desired physique because of stubborn fat deposits, consider fat removal with liposuction. While traditional liposuction techniques and technology have delivered safe and effective results for many years, Dr. Chacon chooses to offer a newer and more advanced liposuction techniques. Dr. Chacon has received universally positive feedback from his patients about his body contouring techniques.
More About Vaser LipoSelection
LipoSelection uses ultrasonic technology to remove stubborn fat from the body. The ultrasound energy breaks up and liquefies the fat so it can be easily removed. The technology is able to precisely target fat, leaving the surrounding tissue largely intact. It also includes the use of a wetting solution to shrink the blood vessels. This technique helps to minimize post-surgical swelling and bruising; additionally, it lowers the risk of complications and post-operative pain.
LipoSelection can be used to shape and sculpt commonly liposuctioned areas such as “love handles” and “saddlebags,” as well as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, knees, upper arms and back. It can also be used to refine smaller, more delicate areas such as the chin, jowls and neck. LipoSelection may be performed as a standalone procedure or combined with another procedure for more transformative results.
Am I a Candidate for Liposuction?
All liposuction candidates are evaluated on a one-on-one basis during a personal consultation with Dr. Chacon. The consultation consists of Dr. Chacon performing a physical examination of the reported “problem areas,” and a discussion of the goals of surgery. Dr. Chacon will also take down a detailed medical history and record of any previous surgeries.
In order to qualify as a suitable candidate for liposuction we ask that our patients meet the following:
- Candidates are in good physical and psychological health.
- Do not have any medical conditions that could raise the surgical risks or prolong the recovery process.
- Good candidates should be at, or close to, your ideal weight.
Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure and will not help you lose weight. We also ask our patients to have realistic plastic surgery expectations.
Procedural Details
Liposuction is performed on an outpatient basis at an accredited surgical facility. Anesthesia is administered for your comfort and safety.
Dr. Chacon begins by injecting a saline wetting solution into the treatment area to numb the tissues and shrink the blood vessels. Then, he makes several small incisions and inserts a thin probe that emits high-frequency ultrasound energy to break up the surplus fat without damaging the surrounding tissues. He is remarkably precise with the fat removal technique to produce proportional and beautiful results. The best outcomes require “sculpting” the treatment area with an eye for balance and proportion.
Finally, Dr. Chacon carefully extracts the fat using gentle suction to contour the areas of interest.
Liposuction Recovery
Recovering from liposuction is a quick process. You can expect to leave the surgery center the same day of treatment and return to work, exercise and your normal routine within a day or so.
You should notice an improvement in your body shape (i.e., you will look more trim and fit) almost immediately. The results will continue to improve as the post-operative swelling subsides.
