There’s no doubt about the popularity of Botox in San Diego. Last year, it reigned supreme amongst the non-invasive cosmetic procedures, with approximately 3.2 million Botox sessions. Often referred to as a “lunchtime procedure”, Botox is popular due to its quick and easy administration and superior effectiveness when it comes to reducing the appearance of wrinkles. However, a recent Reuters report warned the public about bogus Botox treatments.
FDA Warning of Fraudulent Botox
The Food and Drug Administration informed the public about dealers selling counterfeit Botox. “FDA cannot confirm that the manufacture, quality, storage, and handling of these products follow U.S. standards,” the agency stated in the report.
The agency further revealed that these bogus products are being sold under the following names: “Online Botox Pharmacy,” “Onlinebotox.com” and “Onlinebotox”. These products seem to have been shipped from foreign countries and are being solicited via fax.
Allergan, the manufacturers of the authentic Botox, stated that apart from breaking federal rules, these counterfeit Botox products are most likely to be ineffective and unsafe for use.
This is just another reason why it is crucial for you to receive your Botox and all dermal filler treatments from reputable and experienced aesthetic medicine experts like Dr. Chacon and his highly trained staff of nurse practioners.
