Introducing QWO for Buttock Cellulite Reduction

If lounging by the pool was one of your favorite pastimes until you stopped liking what your butt looked like in a bathing suit, there may be a new solution that will make you want to grab your bikini again before summer’s end. Divino Plastic Surgery is pleased to now offer QWO, the only FDA-approved injectable treatment designed specifically to treat cellulite on the buttocks. It is a great option for women who want to address their moderate to severe cellulite without resorting to surgery.
What’s the Deal with Cellulite?
Almost all women will develop cellulite in their lifetime, regardless of how much they weigh. As you age, your skin gets thinner and your fat cells enlarge, creating a dimpling effect on the flesh of certain parts of the body, including your derriere. While cellulite is completely harmless to your health, it can detract from your body’s appealing contours.
How Does QWO Work?
QWO is a medication composed of an enzyme that attacks fibrous septae, the thickened connective tissue that forms as you develop cellulite. More specifically, the enzyme in QWO acts to tear apart old collagen particles while spurring your body to create new ones. In turn, this process of collagen regeneration smooths the skin.
A trained aesthetician injects this medication directly into the areas of the buttocks where cellulite appears. Generally, it takes no more than 10 minutes to administer the injections. Patients come in for a total of three treatments, each one spaced out about three weeks apart.
There is no downtime or pain associated with this procedure. Women are free to resume their everyday activities immediately after they leave our office.
Results should start to be noticeable a few weeks after your first QWO injection, and will gradually improve over time as collagen production continues. The improvements achieved should last at least one year, at which point further injections of QWO will be necessary to maintain the results.
Who Should and Shouldn’t Seek QWO Treatment?
Most adult women with significant signs of cellulite on their buttocks can benefit from these injections. Those who should avoid it include women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an allergy to collagenase (or active ingredients in QWO) or have a bleeding disorder.
Women with lax or sagging skin on the buttocks are likely to find that a skin tightening procedure is more effective at improving the appearance of their butt. During a consultation, our aesthetician can offer professional advice on whether QWO or another treatment is best suited for your unique skin.
