Ladies, are you tired of having rolls of fat hanging over or bulging out from under your bra band? Guys, are you tired of the “fat overhang” on your lower back, which makes you want to keep your shirt on while at the beach? In this blog post, Dr. Carlos Chacon of Divino Plastic Surgery provides some tips on how to get rid of the back fat blues for good.
Reduce Overall Fat with Cardio
In more recent years, experts have discovered that “spot training” (exercising with the goal of reducing weight in only one area of the body) is a myth, and that if you want to lose fat from one area, you need to reduce your overall body fat first. Most experts agree that performing some form of cardio exercise for 30-60 minutes on most days of the week, along with strength training and reducing your caloric consumption, is the key to healthy and effective weight loss. Exercises like rowing and boxing are ideal for banishing back fat, since they combine cardio exercise with back-toning exercises.
Tone it Away with These Exercises
Toning exercises are needed to firm up those back muscles. Not only will they give you a sexier back contour, they will also provide a stronger support for your entire body and improve your posture. Pull-ups will strengthen these muscles; if a pull-up is too challenging, try using an assisted pull-up machine (found at most gyms), which uses a platform to support some of your weight as you perform the exercise. Dumbbell rows, preferably using light weights (typically 3-5 pounds), are also effective; to perform a dumbbell row, bend forward slightly and, with a bent knee flat back, pull the arm straight back, with your elbow held stationary against the side of your body.
For a More Enduring Solution, Try Liposuction
If you are near a healthy weight but are bothered by fat stores on your body, including pesky back fat, then liposuction may the just what you need to get the smooth silhouette you’ve been dreaming about. At Divino Plastic Surgery we offer traditional liposuction and laser liposuction, or SmartLipo, to remove fat from these areas, which is then gone for good as the fat cells are also destroyed. SmartLipo, a less invasive liposuction procedure, results in less bleeding during the procedure, smaller scars and a quicker recovery time than traditional liposuction.
