Why Fall and Winter Are the Best Seasons for Plastic Surgery
Posted on October 6, 2021 by Dr. Carlos Chacon - Plastic Surgery
There is never a “wrong” time to improve your look with plastic surgery, but certain seasons offer unique benefits when planning a cosmetic transformation. Dr. Carlos Chacon and the team at Divino Plastic Surgery believe that fall and winter are optimal times to have plastic surgery for the following reasons:
Cooler Weather Offers the Opportunity to Layer Up
Though the temperatures in Southern California are pleasant year-round, most people tend to cover up with longer layers in the fall and winter. Bulky sweaters, light scarves and loose pants are comfortable during the recovery phase, and easily conceal bandages, dressings and compression garments.
Wondering how to fit in a surgical transformation when you’ve been working long hours all year long? Take advantage of the end of the calendar year when most offices tend to slow down or even close altogether. You can book your surgery without worrying that you’ll be missed in important meetings or conferences. Consider tacking on a few extra vacation days around Thanksgiving, Christmas or Hannukah so you can have enough time to undergo and recuperate from surgery. (Remote work arrangements make it even easier to recover in private without questions or comments from nosy coworkers.)
Avoid the Sun and Heat
Dr. Chacon advises all patients to avoid direct sun exposure as they heal from surgery. Sun exposure can interfere with recovery and aggravate healing wounds/scars. But it can be difficult to resist the temptation to bask in the sun during the warm summer months. After taking advantage of summer beach days, you are probably ready to spend more time indoors (and out of the sun), making the fall and winter perfect times for surgery.
Prepare for the Holidays
Depending on how early you book your procedure, you may be able to recuperate in time to flaunt your new look for the holidays. Imagine the joy you would feel showing up to your family’s Christmas or Hannukah celebrations looking 10 years younger or 10 pounds slimmer!
